Frances Krause, 21 years old, Lapeer Michigan, is Michigan's first Potato Queen, a title which she won at the Lapeer County Fair on September 27th from a field of 90 contestants. Merle Ruah, 14 years old, is the winner of the canning contest at the same Fair."

3. "Photographers are literally pouring in to the dental charm committee of the Chicago World's Fair which has undertaken a search for the Most Irresistible Smile in America. Frances Ingram, beauty authority (right), one of the judges, is checking over the photos of candidates with Nancy Frazer, chairman of the committee. Photos of more than 10,000 'smile' candidates have already been submitted. Three winners will be guests of the committee at the Century of Progress Exposition this summer. The judges are Miss Ingram, McClelland Barclay, the artist, and Margery Wilson, charm expert."
