DescriptionThe "auditorium", which was nothing more than rows of benches among the trees in what is now Miller Park. It was on this spot that Chautauqua was dedicated to her great mission. Hundreds of school teachers will look down on this grove as "the spot where they commenced to live a better life."
NotesWilliam Rainey Harper was associated with the Chautauqua Institution - either as an instructor or a principal - from 1883 until 1895.
