Description"The Bardolph Cemetery, located northwest of town, has markers dating back to 1837. Included among them is this attractive headstone for Nannie F. Pelley, who died in 1864. Inscribed on it is a poem that expresses her ambivalence about death: 'Sleep with Jesus, blessed sleep;/ I can no longer wake nor weep./ For God has called and I must go, / Leaving all I love below.' The stone is signed 'Bennedict./ P.R. City.' " "McDonough County Historic Sites, " by John E. Hallwas, p. 74. The digital image has been cropped. The original and full image is available.
