DescriptionThe photograph shows the tombstone of William D. Pulford, who was born in Hartford, Wisconsin, and who died January 20, 1873, at the age of 21, of typhoid fever. His father was William S. Pulford, his mother was Sarah Dodge, and his siblings were Charles D., Jane, Annie, Frank E., and Cary. The Pulfords do not appear in the 1870 census. According to the 1880 census, William S. was 61 years old, born in New York and working as a teamster. Sarah was 55 years old, also born in New York, and a housekeeper. Anna (Annie) was 18 and Carrie (Cary) was 12. Both of them were born in Wisconsin.
