DescriptionFrom a post card, nd. AZO Post Card from Gaites Studio in Macomb. "This photograph shows the early orphanage building, located at 415 N. Madison Street, which was opened in 1913. For two years prior to that time, orphans had been cared for in the home of Josie Westfall, who is standing on the porch in this photograph. She led the effort to develop this facility and also headed the 1931 campaign that led to the building of a larger, brick orphanage in the 800 block of E. Jefferson Street. Before her death in 1941, Westfall had cared for some 500 children." "McDonough County Historic Sites, " by John E. Hallwas, p. 20.
