DescriptionThis photograph shows the first McDonough County Orphanage building, located at 415 North Madison Street in Macomb. The house was originally the home of early Macomb resident Joseph E. Wyne. Orphanage matron Josie Westfall operated the orphanage from its inception in 1913 until her death in 1941. She is standing on the porch to the right in the back row. When this house became too small, the orphanage was moved to a new building in the 800 block of East Jefferson Street.
