Description"Built in 1918 by Western Illinois State Teachers College professor and athletic director Erskine Jay, this home at 216 N. The yard included an earthen stage, where Garwood's English students performed Shakespearean plays and British folk dances during the summer. By the early 1930s, the yard was known as 'The Forest of Arden' and was a tourist attraction. The home is now owned by Dr. and Mrs. Donald Nelson." "McDonough County Historic Sites, " by John E.
