DescriptionGrave of Royal I. Bliss, son of Ephraim Titus Bliss (22 Nov 1837- 21 Jul 1908) and Sarah (Cunningham) Bliss (7 Mar 1843- 28 Aug 1908). Brother to Mary Eleanor (Nettie) and Fred. Royal and his parents are buried at Stice Cemetery in Warren County, Illinois. The man and woman in the photograph are likely his parents, who outlived him.

Obit from Monmouth Newspaper E.T. Bliss, one of the oldest residents of Swan Creek, died July 21, 1908, at the age of 70 years. He was a native of Vermont, and came west in 1861, locating first at Avon, then moving to Swan Creek in 1872. He married Miss Sarah Cunningham in 1863, and three children were born to them, two of whom survived him, Nettie, who lived at Swan Creek, and Fred, of Santa Barbara, Cal. He was also survived by his wife and by nine grandchildren, two brothers and a sister. His funeral service was conducted by Rev. Hughes of Table Grove.
