DescriptionNewspaper article: GRAND GALA DAY! AND BALLOON ASCENSION AT BUSHNELL ILLINOIS SATURDAY AUG. 9, '79 [ 1879 ] Free to All. Mid-Air Performance on Trapeze by Prof. I. N. Fisk. Whose Aerial Voyage to the clouds has justly earned for him the title of CLOUD KING. He will make during the day, a GRAND BALLOON ASCENSION! The Monster Air Ship, capable of holding 100, 000 feet of ascending power, is one of the largest balloons ever inflated, being 90 feet high and 50 feet in diameter, and when inflated is one of the most wonderful, delightful, and superb signs ever witnessed. Notwithstanding the immense size of that balloon used, it will be inflated by the new, rapid and exciting process recently invented, consuming only 30 minutes' time in calm weather to fill this Monster Aerial Ship, thereby doing away with the old and tedious process of inflating balloons, by which many hours' time and expense are saved, thus enabling the citizens of towns and villages to witness these NOVEL , GRAND AND SUBLIME EXHIBITIONS as well as those of the larger cities. This discovery will undoubtedly cause a complete revolution in the art of ballooning, and will, in all probability, do away with steam entirely; and who knows but in a few years railroads, and steamboats will be abandoned, and the CALORIC BALLOON become the popular and general mode of transportation. Only think of a monster globular car traveling the air with a load of human freight—probably a thousand passengers—and the whole propelled by a single hand. To see the Calorie Balloon demonstrated, be sure to visit the exhibition. By all means witness the thrilling and exciting inflation, the Aeronaut takes his place on that frail bar, the terrific and perilous start, and withal the novel and sublime scene of the Great Ascension on the above date, between the hours of 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. TURN OUT AND BRING YOUR FAMILIES. REMEMBER IT WILL COST YOU NOTHING. FREE TO ALL. Plain Dealer Print, Galesburg, Ill.
