| Description | School attendance record from the Union School near Prentice in Morgan County, Illinois, kept by Samuel A Prior from July to December, 1844. The bottom portion reads:
"I here by certify that the foregoing Schedule of the names of the scholars therein named residing in township 16 north range 8 west of the 3 principal meridian is correct. Given under my hand and seal this 24 day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and forty four. Samuel A Prior -teacher
State of Illinois, County of Morgan - We certify that at a meeting of the employees of S. A. Prior the above named held at the Union School house pursuant to notice we were on the 17 day of May in the year 1844 duly elected trustees of said School, (it being a union of two township, and were continued as trustees after the 8 of July 1844) that we have preformed the duties of such Trustees by visiting the said school from time to time, and superintending the same, that we have examined the foregoing Schedule and find the same to be correct that the scholars named therein were at the dates of their attendance, residents of township 16 north range 8 west of the 3 principal meridian and that there is due said teacher for instructing the scholars named in said Schedule at the times there in mentioned the sum of $12, 11 cts witness our hands and seals this 24 day of December 1844 Morgan county State of Illinois" [signed] William S.
