| Transcription | Pedro Albizu Campos High School is a private alternative high school located in the West Town community at 1671 N. Claremont. The school was founded in 1972 and soon will celebrate its 15th year of service. At Pedro Albizu Campos, students who would not otherwise have had an opportunity are able to graduate. Because Pedro Albizu Campos High School is an alternative to the public school system, its philosophy and teaching methods are totally different. The classes are smaller and the teacher is able to give more individual attentions to each student. Along with a well-established and balanced core curriculum, Pedro Albizu Campos is the only high school in teh US that offers a strong sense of pride and understanding of Puerto Rican Culture and History. One of the basic ideas of Albizu Campos High School is that if the youth of this community have a better understanding of this community's problems, then their educational experience will be a more meaningful and successful one. Besides offering the core cirriculum courses and Puerto Rican Studies, the school also has a well-developed math and computer science program using TRS and Apple computers. Pedro Albizu Campos High School graduates are well prepared to enter institutions of higher learning including universities, junior colleges and trade schools. |
