DescriptionAs found with the documentation: Porencephaly 43/1956 This patient was born of natural birth on Nov. 27, 1930. She weighed 8-1/2 lbs. at birth. She had her first teeth at 4 months, sat up at 1 year, walked at 19 months, talked at 4 years. Her health during infancy and childhood was good. She had scarlet fever for 40 days at the age of 3 years, measles at 5 years, and mumps at 6 years. She had spasms at 6 days of age and then again at 6 years. She did not attend school. Epilepsy began at 3 months. She was third in line of birth. She has 3 sisters living and in good health. The father is 33 years of age and is in good health. He married at 20 years of age. The mother is 29 years of age and is in good health. She was 16 years at the time of marriage. The patient was admitted to school at the age of 9 years. Mental age on admission was 1 year and her IQ was 19. Grand mal type seizures occurred only when awake and the frequency of seizures was two per day. The patient expired on Nov. 12, 1956. Microscopic Diagnosis: Degenerative encephalopathy, porencephaly in the base of the left frontal love and degenerative leuko-encephalopathy in the centrum ???iovale in both frontal regions.
