DescriptionAs found with the documentation: MEDULLOBLASTOMA CEREBELLI WITH LEPTOMENINGEAL DISSEMINATION / G.C. NA 188/52 8 yr. old male Dec. 1952 / Nov. 1949: Fever, abdominal pains and stiffness of the neck. Diagnosis of non-paralytic poliomyelitis was made. / Jan. 1950: Fever, sore throat and nasal hemorrhage. Recovery with penicillin and sulfa. / Dec. 1950: Anemic, asthenic and underweight. Improvement with iron and vitamins. / Apr. 1951: High fever, cervical adenopathy, fainting spells. / June 1951: Struck in forehead by baseball bat. / July 1951: Pain in right side of abdomen and vomiting. / Oct. 1951: Study in Dept. of Pediatrics and Neurology revealed no evidence of organic disease. Diagnosis: severe emotional disturbance. Dec. 1951: Bilateral papilledema discovered. Acuity 20/50. Ataxic gait, dysdiadokokinesia and dysmetria. Suboccipital craniotomy revealed tumor of leptomeninges. Deep x-ray treatment given for several months following exploration. / Oct. 1952: Recurrence of headache, ataxia and pains in the back. Parents refused hospitalization. / Dec. 1952: Hospitalization because of increased intracranial pressure, a tense suboccipital decompression and dehydration. Downhill course despite continuous ventricular drainage.
