| Description | As found with the documentation: METASTATIC CARCINOMA NA 24/48 44 year old male with 3 month history of headache, occasional seizures and, during the last 2 weeks, increasing confusion. There had been a 40 lb. weight loss in 4 months and patient previously had been told that there was ""a spot on the lung that bore watching"". Patient began to develop generalized back, chest and shoulder pain, a tremor and unsteady gait. Examination revealed bilateral papilledema with bilateral juxta-papillary exudates. There was nystagmus with rapid component laterally. Deep tendon reflexes were hyperactive and left Babinski and Chaddock were positive. Ventriculogram revealed ventricular fluid under marked tension. The right lateral ventricle appeared depressed anteriorly. The patient became unconscious, responded briefly to another ventricular tap, then died on the 7th hospital day. |
