| Description | As found with the documentation: 25/1939 48 year old, white female who had history of two ""nervous breakdowns"" coincident with stress situations and was admitted to Kankakee State Hospital at age of 33. She had visual, auditory and somatic delusions, was untidy, disoriented and indifferent. Thyroidectomy was performed 8 months prior to death. The patient's paternal grandfather died in Elgin; a sister was committed to Chicago State Hospital in 1926; one brother was repeatedly committed to Elgin State Hospital. Both siblings were diagnosed dementia praecox. Autopsy revealed parenchymatous degeneration of the liver and kidney and possible miliary tuberculosis of both lungs. |
