[Italo Balbo was a fascist general and leader of the Italian Blackshirts and, at the time, a close ally of Benito Mussolini. Balbo arrived at the Century of Progress on a transatlantic flight from Rome, Italy. The City of Chicago subsequently staged a parade and renamed 7th Street 'Balbo Drive' in his honor.]
