| Description | View to northwest towards North Michigan Avenue high-rise buildings, with storage sheds, warehouses, and a truck parking lot occupying riverfront land on the north side of the Chicago River between North Columbus Drive and North Lake Shore Drive. Part of the site occupied by these industrial facilities is where the River East complex (including the River View Condominiums, 401 and 445 East North Water Street) are now located. The Tribune Tower is on the upper left of the image, with the Medinah Club building (Sheraton Hotel) to the right of it (now Hotel InterContinental.) The Michigan Terrace Apartments (535 North Michigan Avenue) are also visible to the right of the hotel. Brubaker's caption on the original slide reads ""Underdeveloped land along Chicago River, from Outer Drive Bridge."" |
