Calumet Park Beach and State Line Power Plant
Calumet Park Beach and State Line Power Plant
TitleCalumet Park Beach and State Line Power Plant
DescriptionView looking southeast from the Lake Michigan beachfront at Calumet Park. In the foreground, people use the sandy beach, while behind them others walk along the pier. Rising behind the beach is State Line Power Plant, a coal-fired electrical generating station. This plant ceased operating in 2012 and is scheduled to be demolished. The site will likely continue to be used for energy-related purposes.
