| Description | View looking northwest from the west Loop over the west part of the Near North Side, the North Branch of the Chicago River, and West Town. The top of the telescoping tower of 188 West Randolph Street (Steuben Club Building) is in the extreme foreground at the bottom center. The Apparel Center is immediately behind it. 180 North LaSalle is also at the bottom foreground, and the Merchandise Mart is directly behind that. To the left across the river from the Apparel Center is the North American Cold Storage Company warehouse at 345 North Canal Street (visible before renovation as the Fulton House Condominiums). The Montgomery Ward & Company Headquarters tower (now The Montgomery condominiums, 535 West Chicago Avenue/ 500 West Superior Street) stands out on the right side of the photograph. |
