| Title | West Huron and North Wells Streets |
| Description | View looking southwest across West Huron Street from just east of the intersection with North Wells Street. The parking lot in the foreground, located along the east side of North Wells Street between West Huron and West Erie Streets, is still in existence. A billboard standing in that parking lot advertises Newport cigarettes. To the left behind the billboard, the yellow and turquoise painted exterior of Ed Debevic's restaurant (640 North Wells Street) is visible. To the right of the billboard, the three story building with the brown brick front facade and grey painted side facade is now part of the Hooters restaurant at 660 North Wells Street. Behind this building is North Branch II (311-313 West Superior Street), with a banner reading ""The North Branch Center"". Part of the Merchandise Mart is visible at the far left side of the photograph. Brubaker's caption on the original slide mount reads ""Vacant quarter block at Wells and Huron."" |
