Millikin U. Again, 74-70

Southern's cagers, shooting an even.400 from the field and cashing in on 26 of 32 free throws
an.812 percentage from the charity line, defeated Millikin University Monday night for their seventh victory in eight starts at home.
It was Millikin's third loss in 16 games, two of the setbacks coming at the hands of the Salukis.
Although the Salukis outshot the Big Blue from the field, .400 to.356, Millikin dumped in two more field goals than did Southern. The visitors made only 18 free throws, however, and Southerns 26 provided the margin of victory.
Petty Ties It Up
Southern led throughout the game until 13 minutes remained in the second half, when Millikin tied it up, 44-44. Southern pulled away again before Don Petty's set shot knotted it, 54-54. and Mickey Sprinkle sent Millikin into the lead with a jump shot. 56-54.
Warren Talley and Richard Jones put the Saiukis back ahead, however, with a five-point splurge.
Seymour Brvson, who hit six of eight shots the second half, then tossed in two baskets, Larry Whirlock one and Jones two more free throws to offset a six-point flurry by Spinkle and a two pointer by Terry Smith which sliced the magin to 64-67 with
Jones added two more free tosses, but Petty clicked on two fielders to cut the lead to 68-69
with 1:03 remaining,
