TranscriptInquiring Reporter Asks'‘What Do You Want In Student Union?'

By Wayne Raguse
"What would you like to see
most in the new Student Union?" and "What do you think about the student referendum, May 15,
which will increase the Student Union fee" were questions this reporter asked SIU students last week.

This is wha he found.

Sandy Stroup, junior from Dii Quoin.
‘I would like to see a lot of moms for organizations, as the Union should be the place for them. As king as we are going to have a big Union let's have a formal ballroom and also an informal one

Garrison Newsom, freshman from Shawneetown.
"I would like to see more recreational areas, a ballroom, a place to lounge, and a place to catch ‘40 winks'. I sure hope that it will be air-conditioned. A student swimming pool could also be helpful. All of this would take time, but with better facilities the present enrollment trends would take care of the cost."

Newsom expressed his feelings on the referendum by saying. "I think it definitely should be passed. It kind of makes you feel that you left something for the school.
