By DOROTHY SYHES

A student Union Building here at Southern is greatly needed. Both Negro and white students agree on this statement; however, the need is felt greater by Negro students.
As it is now, all students, except Negroes, have Carter's Cafe, and the Lone Star Cafe to go to between classes to kill time, converse, dance, etc., yet some complain about such places not being suitable. At least those students do have a place to go, but the Negro students do not.
The recreational side of the story is just as dark. All students have an opportunity to bowl at the local bowling alley and to test their skill at billiards at the local billiard hall. The S. U.. B. would give us the same privileges and amount of recreation.

It is a cinch that no Negro student is allowed to eat inside either of the places mentioned.
Some people do not know how useless and tasteless a meal eaten while walking or standing can be, but we Negro students know be-
