TranscriptSOUTHERN HOME TRACK OPENER WITH MACOMB
SATURDAY'S DUAL MEET WITH WESTERN TEACHERS TO OPEN NEW TRACK

Macomb Teachers' track team will be the guests of the Southern cindermen Saturday afternoon in the Maroon's first encounter at home this season. This meet will also mark the first contest held on the S. I. T. C. new athletic field.
Last year the Western team was defeated by the Linglemen 91 1-6 points to 39 5-6 points. Altogether the upstate team won only four first places. Galloway, Macomb star last year, will probably compete Saturday in the 220 and 440 yard dashes which he won with ease here last year.
Conklin in the pole vault and Coon in the mile, were the other winners for the Macomb team.
Coach Lingle with a team not quite as strong as last year, is optimistic about the meet, and he will send his strongest candidates to the front in each event.
Payton, Hill, and Crisp will probably uphold the Maroons' colors in the dashes. Kelton George, a freshman who has been out of competition because of an operation, may be able to compete in the sprints. In the high hurdles Lingle has Crisp and Parednis, while Crisp, and Hickey will run the low hurdles. Southern's trio of quarter-milers last year, Buckner, Heiderscheid, and Tripp, will again run the 440. Grisko, Moss and Lehde will run the half mile. Newton, last year's miler and two miTer is again to compete in these events. Crisp and Hill are Southern's best bets in the broad jump, while Tullis and Lawson will again represent the Maroons in the pole vault. Southern's entries in the
