620 CCC Camp in Basketball Game

The Dunbar society basketball team defeated the 620 CCC camp team in its court opener at the old gym Thursday night, 48-38. The Dunbar team trailed at the end of the first quarter and had only a two point margin at the half. In the last half, the camp squad pulled up to a tie, only to have the college aggregation flash a fourth quarter scoring attack which clinched the game.
Effective passing and team work featured the Dunbar offense. La Vern Wood, veteran forward of the collegians and Hurd, CCC guard, led the scorers, each connecting for 17 points. Clyde Perkins, Dunbar center, scored 10 points.
The starting lineups were: Dunbar—forwards, LaVern Woods and Charles Stancil; center, Clyde Perkins; guards, Logan, Crim and Harold Walker; 620 CCC camp— forwards, Edward McBride, and Valentine; center, Brown; and guards, Webb and Hurd.
