TranscriptKappa Karnival adds 2 events
Two more events have.been
added to the Kappa Karnival
schedule set for April 24-26.
Kappa Karnival Is an annual
reunion.md celebration sponsored by Kappa Alpha Psl,
a national social fraternity at
SIU.
The new events Include an
After-Set from 1-7 a.m.
Saturday, April 25, at the
Golden Gauntlet and a special
21 and over session later
Saturday afternoon at the
Nubian II.
Other events scheduled arc
a houscwaimlng at 8 p.m.
April 23 at the Kappa fraternity house. 112 Small Group
Housing.
A prc-Kamlval Dance from
9 p.m.-l t.m. at Grtnnell
Hall will be on April 24. A
basketball tournament and
J.UZ workshop on the 25th will
lead up to the showcase event,
the Karnival Dance and Queen
Coronation from 8 p.m. to
midnight In the SIU Arena.
This year's theme.''Kappas on tbe Freedom Train/*
will be carried out In costumes and decorations.
Besides a top name band
and refreshments, the Karnival Dance will feature a
midway with booths such as
fortune telling, penny tossing,
dart throwing, basketball,
novelties, wheel of fortune
and pool shooting.
Highlighting the night will
be the crowning of the Kappa
Karnival queen, chosen from a
group of SIU coeds. Miss Joy
Lockridge, a business major
from Chicago, 13 the retiring
queen.
The Karnival Is one of the
largest gatherings of college
students in the country, and
last year's event drew more
than 4, 000 brothers, alumni,
relatives and friends of Kappa
Alpha Psi.
Bob He am, a senior from
Springfield and general Karnival chairman, has extended
an Invitation for all students
to take part ir. the celebration.
