Old Main, ca. 1890s
TitleOld Main, ca. 1890s
Date Original1890s
Subject TopicalOld Main; North Park College
NoteOld Main was the only building on campus. It was well-built, but it lacked modern conveniences. The closest telephone was one-half mile east at the Covenant Home of Mercy. Old Main was lit by kerosene lamps because gas and water utility lines had not been extended from the city. Foster Avenue was a muddy wagon road and was described as "well-nigh impassable" after a heavy rain.
