TitlePaw Paw Tunnel of the C and O Canal
DescriptionColor Postcard; Built in 1838 and restored to its original state by the National Park Service as part of the C and O National Park. Canal boats ran between Cumberland, Md. and Washington, D.C. with freight and passengers. Tunnel is just off Route 51, one mile from Paw Paw, W. Va. and twenty-six miles from Berkeley Springs, W. Va. Tunnel open to public, along with modern picnic grounds. You can drive your car to within 100 ft. of the entrance, and can walk through the tunnel on the tow path.
