TitleWoman Crossing Dirt Street
SubjectCarter, H. H.; Lockport (Ill.) -- History
DescriptionB&W photograph; This view looking up 9th Street hill shows O'Connell Hardware on the right. Mrs. Edward F. Worst is crossing the street. The large sign over the sidewalk is for Wurbs Harness Shop. The aperture behind O'Connell's is the entrance to the alley running to 10th Street under the building. Base burner stoves were hoisted into the O'Connell Store through a trap door over the alley for summer storage and cleaning. The tallest building toward the left was Will County Printing Company on the first floor and Woodman Hall upstairs. - Donated by Pershing and Trudy Ogren
