| Transcript | Mollie Crew Allen Chapel Parsonage The lot for the parsonage was bought from John Johnson the bus line owner at the Union Hotel in the 1880's. Different ministers would talk about "some day we'll have a parsonage, " but Mr. Dick said we'd have one, and we did. He deserves the credit. [2] Mollie Crew Allen Chapel Club Has functioned to pay church insurance, finish up parson- age etc. There are 14 women who carry this on. Where repairs are over due, where insurance would lapse, where debts go unpaid, they fill the breech. Mrs. Minnie Kelly origin ated this work -- organized the women. The trustees were in a tight place - these women realized in 1933 that an emergency was on. They dig into their own pock- ets. They don't turn money [3] Allen Chapel Club Mollie Crew over to officers of the church but actually pay bills themselves. May Jackson Pres. now Mrs. Nettie Huff VP Mrs. Chas. Anderson Secy Mrs. Fannie Grigsby Treas. They hold picnics, and have entertainment at times, but chief reliance is not on other people -- rather upon themselves for the money they raise. |
