DescriptionDraft of an agenda for the Racial Conference, dated Feb. 12, 1948 scheduled to be held in Galesburg, Illinois. The conference theme is ' "With Liberty and justice for all"--In our community.' Round tables and panels included themes: "Civil Rights Report and the situation in Illinois" and "Civil Rights & race relations in housing, employment, education, recreation, public places, law enforcement." The agenda draft has emendations in the hand of Knox College Professor J. Howell Atwood, who was actively involved in researching the charactistics and culture of the African American community of Galesburg, Illinois from 1930-1960.
