TranscriptONE of the agitating topics of Gales-
burg is the question of the admission of
colored children into the respective gra-
ded schools according to capacity and
education. The superintendent is be-
sieged daily with applications for the
admission of colored children into the
schools, which, of course, he is unable
to decide in any shape, having no au-
thority from the board of education to
act in the permises. It is now sugges-
ted, in order to settle this vexed ques-
tion, that the admission of colored chil-
dren be submitted to the citizens at the
election next November, and the sug-
gestion is favorably received by many
people. It would certainly be an easy
method of arriving at the solution of
this difficult problem.
