TitleArtist Hilda Vogl with Painting
DescriptionA photograph of the artist Hilda Vogl. Henry Houser interviewed her about her painting and muralism experiences. Vogl's grandfather was a painter and had taught her various skills. She had never gone to school because she had to help support her family. Her grandparents were originally from Germany and had settled in Nicaragua. Somoza persecuted Germans and Vogl's father was imprisoned for a time. At one point, Vogl fled Nicaragua with her children and lived in Panama, returning to Nicaragua after Somoza was overthrown where she continued to paint murals and other artwork.
