Estimado y recodado amigo Orlando,

Yo he recibido tu buena carta hace muchas semanas.

Henry

My dear friend Orlando,

I received your letter many weeks ago. Please forgive me for not answering until now. But I want you to know that we here have been working to raise funds for the mural project. I sent with this letter a letter that we are using to promote this project. My friend, John Greiner, the director of the Peoria Area Peace Network has been a great help and also made a generous contribution towards this work.

I am also sending a simple brochure that we use to announce discussions about the murals. There has been a photo exhibition about Nicaragua in the public library in Peoria that included various photos of the murals.

The results of our efforts so far have been $1, 400 dollars. I have appointments at various universities this fall that should result in another thousand dollars. I think that when I come to Nicaragua next year in January we should be very close to the goal of $4, 600

I will bring these funds with me when I visit your country in January. I have decided that I will not be able to come this month, July, or August. But please do not lose hope with respect to our support. There is much admiration here for your constant resolve.

David and I have maintained contact through letters and phone calls various times.

Thank you for sending me news about new murals in Managua and the revising of the project. It is really great.

The news here about the events in Nicaragua show the situation there is very difficult. I hope that your are doing well and that there is some space for happiness in your life. Know that there are many people here that are in solidarity with you and your struggle.
