DescriptionThe top band of decoration on this small water jar is netsikâ lacow'iyulipa (crooks, or drumsticks, with feathers joined together), which symbolizes a prayer for beautiful music. Beneath this is na'lan k'yakwenne (deer's house) with the deer on black ground. Black ground symbolizes the damp earth where women want to plant their gardens. Deer images are often used in the hope that they will bring success in hunting.
