Description
This
crenellated
prayer
meal
bowl
has
four
toads
(the
spots
suggest
they are not
frogs)
or
horned
toads
painted
inside
and
outside.
These
animals
are
water
symbols.
A
spirit
line
encircles
the
interior
of the
bowl
below
the
toads.
Prayer
bowls
contain
water
and
corn
meal
on
ceremonial
altars;
they are also
used
to
hold
corn
meal
in
houses
to be
used
to
bless
the
katsinam
and
other
ceremonial
participants.
