DescriptionMrs. Kimball was born November 24, 1844 in a Boston suburb. In September of 1864, she married Benjamin Rush Kimball and moved to Chicago. There, she saw the close of the Civil War and had her home and husband's business destroyed in the great fire of 1871. In 1879, she began teaching in the Bloomington public schools. She took a position as a reference librarian at the public library in 1891. ""For thirty years she continued this work, assisting thousands of students and others in their researches along every line of literary work."" (The Daily Pantagraph 20 Feb. 1934)
