Vote for the man who will be a REAL States Attorney."" Back view contains a short essay by L.C. Hay entitled, ""Our Country's Flag."" Luther C. Hay was born on the 27th of July, 1836 in Brown County, Ohio. In 1855, the Hay family moved to McLean County Illinois, living first in Lexington Township and later Chenoa Township. L.C. had four children with Miss Matilda Frazier whom he married in 1860. He later married again, this time to Mrs. Frances A. (Rhodes) Clark. Together they had five children. The L.C. Hay family dwelt on forty acres of ""finely cultivated land"" in the Chenoa Township. L.C. Hay also owned and managed 240 acres in Pike Township, located in Livingston County, Illinois. In the Portrait and Biographical Album of McLean County, Illinois it is written ""Politically, he is a stanch Republican and uniformly casts his vote in support of the principles of that party.""
