Stores & shops
Signs (Notices)
DescriptionOutdoor scene of a street lined with stores and crowds of men, women, and children. The street itself is not really visible. The stores are decorated with patriotic banners, and the stores also have windows, awnings, and signs. One sign reads: "Blatz Private Stock" and is printed on the side of a building. Another sign reads: "Saad's Ice Cream Parlor." Flags and banners are hanging overhead, and trees are in the background. Two little girls are standing in the lower left corner of the picture, and one is wearing a plaid dress. Most of the adults in the crowd are wearing hats. Perhaps the work of HH or RM Cole, active in central Illinois from 1854-1902.
