DescriptionOutdoor portrait of a young girl sitting on an older woman's knee. The woman is kneeling in a grassy yard with trees and behind her is a house with clapboard siding. Both are wearing dresses, and the girl has a large hair bow and curls. The girl's hands are folded in her lap. The woman's hands are on either side of the girl's waist, holding her up. The woman has glasses and a necklace, and her head is tilted to the side, looking around the girl's head. Both are looking at the camera. Perhaps the work of HH or RM Cole, active in central Illinois from 1854-1902.
