DescriptionThe slide reads: see 355. The photograph shows the 100 block of North Adams Street, Peoria, Ill in 1888. The view is looking north from Main Street. The edge of the Peoria County Courthouse site is on the left. On the other side of the street the corner building is identified as Metropolitan Cigar House and Tom Webb Ticket Office. The taller building several doors down has a sign which reads: Draper & Taylor. There are streetcar tracks down the middle of the street and several horse drawn wagons at the curb. Electric power poles and electric lines are seen along the sidewalk. A pedestrian is walking at the corner. The Peoria City Directory from 1888 lists the occupants of this block as : 100 E. H Tirzwoller, Charles P Webb, Western U. Tel.
