Clapboard siding
Architectural decorations & ornaments
DescriptionImage of the Winzeler Home. This house is located south of Tremont on Rt. 121, about 2-2.5 miles. It faces west and was showplace of the county in early 1900's. This photo is from about 1915. Dan Steiner bought it in a rundown state in 1978, and remodeled it. This information has been researched by Lee Roten who says Steiner bought the house from a Nord, and a Deppert was involved with this house between 1915 and 1948. (Caption on the back of the image reads: "There is another house very similar to this one on the corner of Harris and across from the Tremont City Park - owned in 1978 by a family named Allen who say they think the houses may have been built by the same party. That house was known as the Old Sawyer Home.") The house has white clapboard siding, gingerbread carving on the eaves and front porch pillars. There are two porches and shutters on the windows. The porch toward the back has chairs and plants.
