Collection Description
The Forest Preserve District of Cook County (FPDCC), charged with protecting and preserving forested lands, came into existence in the 1910s. The items in this digital collection come from a small sampling of the thousands of documents created during the district's history and consist primarily of documents that the district deemed as being of "historical" interest.
This digital collection also includes a small sampling of documents from Series I, sub-series 9, "University of Illinois at Chicago Campus Controversy." These deal principally with the FPDCC's successful campaign to convince the University of Illinois not to use forest preserve land for its Chicago campus.
