This digital sheet music collection contains popular titles in the public domain dating from the early 20th Century. It is a subset of the complete KMOX Music Collection at Lovejoy Library, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. The parent collection consists of the performing music library--original and stock arrangements--compiled by the St. Louis radio station KMOX, a CBS affiliate, when the station maintained a live studio orchestra. At the height of the radio orchestra's popularity in the 1940s, station KMOX (the "Voice of St. Louis") employed as many as thirty-five musicians, three professional arrangers, several copyists, and a librarian. The complete collection as received contains 48,195 titles. The KMOX Collection was a gift to Lovejoy Library from the station and is accompanied by the original card index.

For this digital collection, the original performance markings were retained for the sake of the user. If more than one copy of a title was available, the copy in the best condition was digitized.

This digital collection was first created by Lovejoy Library in 2008 with 118 initial titles. The collection will grow as more titles enter the public domain. The Project Director was Therese Dickman, who also wrote the home page text.
