Collection Description
The Jacksonville Female Academy was established in 1830 to educate and prepare girls for their roles as fashionable women in nineteenth-century America. Along with the Conservatory of Music, the academy was absorbed by Illinois College in 1903, thus making it a co-educational institution. The catalog images included in this collection give an impression of the course of study, expense of attendance and behavioral expectations for students.
