Description |
The Spectrum was the first student-run newspaper that appeared when Sangamon State University opened in the fall of 1970. The Spectrum was an independent newspaper that served both SSU and Lincoln Land Community College and appeared weekly during academic terms. Spectrum articles often focused on politics, the war in Vietnam, and the formation of the new University's governing systems. Issues were distributed on the SSU and LLCC campuses, with home delivery later becoming available. The typical length of an issue was either eight or twelve pages. The Spectrum supplemented its staff editorials and features with stories from the College Press Service and the New York Times News Service. WARNING: Some issues contain adult theater advertisements which may not be suitable for some viewers. |
