Description
"By 1972 , noncredit courses and conference programs expanded with the appointment of Ms . June A. Tenckhoff as Assistant Dean of Continuing Education . Tenckhoff was assigned the additional title of Director of Non-Credit Conferences and Workshops effective July 1 , 1974 . With this appointment , the office became the central contact point within the University for noncredit activities as noted by Provost James Connor . The Non-Credit Program Office was to be the central contact point within the University for all noncredit activities . This turf battle continues even now in 2002 , as many of the academic departments continue to offer noncredit programs without utilizing the Office of Non-Credit Programs ' services . Tenckhoff was to stimultate the development of noncredit programs to provide better educational services to the citizenry of the region and state . Noncredit courses were tailored to the needs and wishes of the people enrolled in them. Tenckhoff worked through the public libraries in such towns as Hamilton , Warsaw , Clayton , Pittsfield , Bowen , Rushville , Mt . Sterling , Carthage , and others . Programs included 'Coping with Change, ' 'Dr . Seuss Show, ' 'Soviety-American Detente, ' Folk Art and Music, ' and 'Great Decisions ' to name a few.
