A recording of the 12th lecture in the Wayne A. R . Leys Memorial Lecture series , entitled "Terrorism and Moral Rights " by Professor and philosopher Carl Pierce Wellman . Southern Illinois University philosophy professor John Howie provides opening remarks . In the context of what Wellman calls "anti-abortion terrorism " to characterize abortion clinic bombings , he discusses if an act of terrorism can be morally justified . John Howie also comments on this at approximately the 40 minute mark . Wellman examines the difficult relationships between a person's actions and moral rights , the rights of the unborn , the right of the mother to choose , and the right to privacy . He discusses the relationship between utility and moral rights . He or Howie conclude by commenting on the question "what is the ground for moral claim-right that others not destroy or damage one's property? " Part 1 concludes with questions from the audience . This was recorded on Morris Library Auditorium at 7:30 PM .
