Dunbars Restrict Queen Honors to
Upperclassmen
The Dunbar Literary Society met
in the basement of tile Ailyn Training building Monday. September 30, for a two-fold purpose. First, the society met concerning the method of election to be used for the Dunbar Homecoming queen. Breaking precedent, the society barred all freshmen from running for the coveted award: however, upperclassmen arc eligible to run.
the queen will, as in previous years. be selected by the general public the night of the dance, but the Dunbar members will select the Maids-in-Waiting in the near future.
Second, the members met for discussion of the orchestra to lie engaged. Milton Larkins’ orchestra. which was voted by the society as the orchestra most desired, Will be available for the dance but, so far, the organization and Larkins have been unable to come to a definit agreement concerning the price. The band next desired, Jeters-Pillars or chestra, is unavailable because of a previous engagement.
The program committee presented a musical program tO the society. Frist, Rosanne Tribble featured medley on the piano. She also played "Deep Purple" upon request. Carson Brown sang “Whispering Grass and Matthew Curtiss concluded the program by singing “God bless America.’’ Miss Tribble WaS the accompanist for Brown and Curtiss
