Brother James Gaffney, FSC, president of Lewis University, will present the awards to Brother Paul French, FSC, Senior Distinguished Professor, professor of English and coordinator for the Culture and Civilization program; and Chet Kondratowicz, faculty emeritus of theatre and former director of the Philip Lynch Theatre. Kondratowicz and Brother Paul established the Arts & Ideas Series in 1984 to provide educational, cultural, artistic and entertaining programming that is open both to students and the general public free of charge or at a nominal fee. Through the years, thousands of guests annually have attended events such as concerts, plays, touring companies, dance ensembles, films, lectures, and seminars. The pair also provided for the creation of the Cultural Advisory Board at Lewis to support the Arts & Ideas Series and spearheaded planning and implementation of the annual Arts Gala to fund the series. Open to the public, Arts Gala 2001 is sponsored by the Lewis Cultural Advisory Board and will feature the theme Casablanca - Relive the Romance. The evening will include the award ceremony, cocktail reception, silent auction, raffle, gala dinner and entertainment. MORE.
